Alastair Bruce, Fitzalan Pursuivant Extraordinary

Alastair's early career was as a Regular Army officer, serving in the Falklands and Northern Ireland, then as an Assistant Vice President of Merryll Lynch. He remains a Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army (General List - Scots Guards) and is the Commanding Officer of the Media Operations Group (Volunteers). Throughout his career he has been involved with the media industry, currently being a writer, broadcaster and film maker. He was appointed Fitzalan Pursuivant Extraordinary in 1998, specialising in matters of State ceremonial, Royal Heraldry and the media. He is also Royal event and constitutional commentator for Sky News since 1991, and since 2004 he has been Extra Equerry to Their Royal Highnesses the Earl and Countess of Wessex. He is Director of Ceremonies for the Priory of England and the Islands of the Order of St John of Jerusalem. He has been a Member of Council since 2006.
