A deeper knowledge and understanding of, and experience in, British heraldry
Some knowledge of foreign heraldry
That they have carried out some research work in heraldry and have already completed a substantial proportion of a particular project
Awareness of modern usage in heraldry
Knowledge of medieval heraldry
Knowledge of the Law of Arms in England/Wales/Northern Ireland and Scotland

NOTE: In one of the question papers there is a question which requires practical use of two books - Burke's General Armory and Papworth's Ordinary of Arms, and it is the responsibility of the candidate to bring copies into the Examination Room.
