The Heraldry Society Christmas Lecture and Christmas Quiz

6:00 pm 17 December 2021 Zoom

By popular demand and following the success of last years event.

Get your Christmas celebrations off to a flying start with a fun-packed heraldic evening. Test your knowledge of heraldry against other enthusiasts. Learn secrets about heraldry from the past and present. Augmented by lots of beautiful heraldic images.

We are looking forward to a splendid evening of social merriment and conviviality, combined with a challenging but fun quiz. The questions will range from easy to perplexing. There is no need to be a heraldic expert, enthusiasm, guesswork and brio may well see you win a prize. Historic fun for all the family.

As last year we will start the evening with a short talk followed by a quiz. There will be questions on Christmas heraldry, The College of Arms, Corporate Heraldry, Canting, Supporters, Badges, Unusual Beasts, Royal Heraldry and much more.

Unlike our usual lectures, which will remain free to view, there will be a small charge for this event. All the money raised after costs will be donated to support the St John Ambulance Association. This vital organisation works hard to provide care and assistance for those in need.

You can either enter as an individual (£5) or as a team (£30).

Teams can be any number of people between two and six people.

It will not be necessary for teams to be physically present in the same place. Further information on how the quiz will be conducted on-line will be communicated nearer the time.

There are some great prizes for winning individuals and teams:

1) A personal tour of the College of Arms for six people conducted by Peter O’Donoghue, York Herald of Arms in Ordinary.

2) A case of wine. Twelve bottles of top quality wine all with heraldic labels.

3) A voucher for the value of £150 to be spent on books in the society’s online bookshop.

More prizes are to be announced soon.
