The Constance Egan Lecture: Scots Heraldry of the 21st Century

6:30 pm 17 March 2021 Zoom lecture

Gordon Casely, a Fellow of the Heraldry Society of Scotland and a member of The Heraldry Society, examines present-day heraldry in Scotland, and the context for it. He illustrates what he feels is a rise in numbers seeking coats-of-arms, and raises the pertinent question: how do we encourage more people take up heraldry and gain arms?

He gives examples of recently gained arms for people, councils, companies and communities, and his answers provide a thoughtful conclusion.

Unusually for a heraldry lecture, almost all the images shown are of arms in the 21st century.
