Notes

In the east wall of the nave to the south of the chancel arch is a stone carved with the heraldry and coat of arms of Nanfan ( Sable a cheveron ermine between 3 wings argent.) & Cornwall impaling Harley, with the initials and date W. N., G. N., 1572. The initials are those of William Nanfan and his son Giles. Elizabeth Harley was Giles Nanfan's first wife. The stone was probably put up by Giles after his father's death. William Nanfan 1520-1572 +++ was the son of John Nanfan and Maude / Matilda 1560 daughter of Lord Thomas Cornwall of Burford by Anne Juliana daughter of Sir Richard Corbet 1493 & Elizabeth Devereaux. - J McCreanor
